Between 1907 and 1911, the sanitary engineer Saturnino de Brito implemented the first canals in the city of Santos. The function was to separate water from streams in the sewage network. They cross the city until they flow into the ocean. Nowadays, it is common that during the summer, children are seen having fun in these waters near the sea.
