The paradox between the coexistence of the largest port complex and the largest favela of stilts in Latin America, located in the city of Santos, SP, Brazil.

According to IBGE, 2010, the capital of the state of Amapá, Macapá, has the largest number of stilts among Brazilian cities - 83.9%. Santos, is in second place with 26.91%. However, the cultural relationship with housing is nothing like one city to another.

In the north, originates from traditional riverside culture and communities are scattered throughout the city. In Santos, is the largest cluster. Located near the port area, in Dique da Vila Gilda, more than 20 thousand people live, struggling the lack of opportunities and social inequality.
