XII ORDINARY ASSEMBLY OF COIAB

Every two years, indigenous leaders of different ethnicities and villages in the Amazon rainforest come together for the Ordinary Assembly of COIAB (Coordination of Indigenous Organizations in the Brazilian Amazon).

In 2019, the XII edition of the Assembly took place in the Betânia Indigenous Land in Santo Antônio do Iça, Amazonas, territory of the Tikuna people, where 300 indigenous leaders reaffirmed the 519 years of resistance in Brazil, fighting to guarantee and strengthen their rights and territories as indigenous people. Also criticize the current Brazilian governance and repudiate the neglect of forest life. Photographs by Felipe Beltrame / Brigada Amazônia / Mídia Ninja.
